5 Everyday Items That are Flammable
Now that the weather is cooler, you may be thinking about starting the fireplace and turning on those space heaters. With all of the various heat sources running, we thought we would share a few everyday items that are flammable and should be kept away from the heat.
Fabric. This shouldn’t be a surprise, but anything made of fabric can be extremely flammable. It’s important to keep items like curtains and blankets far away from any source of extreme heat, such as space heaters and fireplaces.
Aerosol Cans. The chemicals In many aerosol cans are extremely flammable. Some examples are hairspray, household cleaners, insect repellant, and more. Be mindful of your proximity to heat sources when using these products and stay far away from open flames.
Nail polish. If you’re someone who likes to paint their nails next to the fireplace in the winter, it’s best to stop. Nail polish is extremely flammable, and should be kept away from heat sources.
Hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer usage is common in the cooler months when cold and flu season approaches. Because of its alcohol content, hand sanitizer can be extremely flammable. Be sure to keep your hands far away from the fire if you’ve been using hand sanitizer.
Food items. Certain food items can be flammable. Things like flour, sugar, and oil can all cause fires. Make sure to keep these items away from your cooktop, especially if it’s gas.
