Getting outdoors during the summer is a top priority for us and hiking hits the peak of the to-do list! We love squeezing in as many hikes as we can while the weather is warm. Here are a few to enjoy if you are located near the valley.

Syncline Mountain - 2 summits can be reached on this trail. Most beginner hikers will take the shorter 4-mile trek to the first 5,362 ft summit of Syncline Mountain. If you are a well-seasoned hiker you can tack on an additional 4 miles to the plateau-like summit ridge to the higher 5,471-foot summit. This hike is beautiful and once you reach the top you will have a whole lot to view!

Lazy Mountain Trail - This beautiful trail is located 90 minutes north of Anchorage. Don't let the name fool you right after leaving the parking area you begin to climb straight up. You will encounter windy switchbacks as the trail reaches the summit ridge. This hike is anything but lazy!

Blueberry Knoll - Located 50 miles north of Anchorage this hike is perfect for all members of the family. It is a total of 1.5 miles at the end of the trail you will be able to enjoy panoramic views of the Matanuska River and the Knick River valleys. Pack a lunch and take in all the sites!

Snowbird Glacier If you are a confident hiker who loves to climb this trail is perfect for you. Take on the vertical feet and rocky terrain of Snowbird pass. This trail is located just north of Hatchers Pass. You will be in pure awe of all the views of this special place.

Gold Mint Trail - Located 90 minutes north of Anchorage on Fishhook- Willow road this 8-mile trail climbs 2,900 feet. This trek has a pretty fantastic treat at the end of it. Mint Cabin is a cabin where you can stay the night if you reach it first! This is a first come first serve basis.

Happy hiking!
